Whole30 Brain. What it is, and why it’s real.

Happy Labor Day Monday you bright shining stars!!  I started off my day with what was supposed to be a nice family 5k, which turned into my child whining/screaming/crying in the stroller the whole time and me/Stephen carrying her for 1/2 a mile. Good times good times.

So today is day 4 of whole30 round two. Days 2-5 are the hardest days and I totally have whole30 brain. I swear, its worse than pregnancy brain- I feel like I have a speech impediment, I cant write things grammatically correct AT ALL (like worse than normal) and I forget things 2 seconds after someone tells me. Its so crazy how once you eliminate certain things from your diet your body just responds so dramatically and quickly. I was only off of whole30 for about 2 weeks and I still feel like my body is going through withdrawals.

**Do any whole30 alums feel this same way or is it just me? I know everyone responds in different ways but I think my husband may kill me if I forget something he tells me one more time. Whole30 Brain. Its a thing.

One of my goals for this round was to only have one cup of coffee a day. Who the EFF did I think I was? Superman? Wonder woman? Because that ain’t happening. The first day by 3:00 I got the WORST migraine in the middle of my workout I thought I was going to puke. So maybe it’s something I’ll work up to.. and by the end of this round I’ll cut it down to just one cup a day…. but for now- I’m not trying to be a superhero, and i’m also not trying to puke at 3pm every day… so bring on the second cup of coffee.

I want to quickly share with you all a recipe that Stephen and I tried this weekend and brought to a dinner party with us this weekend (nothing like day 2 of whole30 and going to a dinner party at someone’s house!) Luckily, one of my good friends who went also, has done a whole30 and she brought a yummy compliant salad, and then we had these meatballs that are seriously AMAZING. If you’re ever in a recipe-rut check out Primal Palate. Not only are their spices AMAZING and such great quality but they have a whole recipe section on their website where you can filter through by your dietary preferences. We tried these mushroom herb meatballs and they were seriously so bomb. Very savory, and made GREAT leftovers.

      Hi Tina! Thanks so much for commenting! You’ll have to let me know how you like the meatballs!!! To be honest, I still consider myself a beginner because I’m always finding new recipes/brands to try etc. I think my biggest piece of advice though is to always prep/plan your week ahead of time. Where I find myself craving non-compliant foods is when I have nothing in my house when I’m starving.. or when I’m driving around town and hunger hits and I don’t have ANYTHING on me that is compliant. Keep things on you at all times that you can snack on when hunger hits at bad times! I hope this helps!!! Good Luck!!
